Mauritius Regional Centre of Excellence

Mauritius Regional Centre of Excellence

18/03/2019
The Mauritius Financial Services Commission has launched its Regional Centre of Excellence on Friday 15 March 2019.  The Centre aims at:

1. Delivering capacity building programmes for financial services regulators and law Enforcement agencies;
2. Conducting research in topical areas in the field of financial services; and
3. Recommending and advising on the introduction of regulatory standards that reflect on the ground market realities.

It has also been announced by the Mauritius FSC that one of their key strategy for 2019 will be the introduction of a Fast Track Application Scheme. Under this new scheme, it has been announced that the processing framework for authorisation will be upgraded to reflect industry
expectations i.e. by introducing the “Known to the Commission” concept. Licensees already licensed by the FSC will inter alia, fall under this concept.  Thus the licensing time is expected to decrease significantly.
